The year 2025 has reminded me, once again, why Find My Home exists. What started as my own struggle navigating the Australian rental market has grown into a service shaped by real people, real experiences, and a shared desire for stability and comfort.
As I look back on this year, I see not just the growth of Find My Home but the many stories that continue to inspire our purpose.
The Story Behind Find My Home
When I first arrived in Australia as an international student, I faced the same challenges that many newcomers still face today. Even when I graduated, secured a stable job, and had strong family support, securing a rental home still felt impossibly difficult.
I tried everything.
I lived in student accommodation.
I moved through different share houses.
I submitted application after application.
And yet, finding a place that offered real comfort and consistency was still a struggle. Every rejection felt confusing, especially when I met all the requirements.
Eventually, I realised something important: newcomers weren’t struggling because they were unprepared. They were struggling because the system was unfamiliar. Many lacked local history, local documents, or simply guidance on how the process works in Australia. So, I started to study the process deeply. I observed patterns, analysed documents, learned what agents look for, and slowly pieced together a clearer path.
Find My Home was never a business idea on paper, it was a journey I lived.
Those lessons became the foundation of Find My Home, a service created to help others avoid the overwhelming journey I once went through
What We Experienced in 2025
This year has been one of the most meaningful years for the team and me. Since early 2025, we’ve supported even more newcomers navigating an increasingly competitive and fast-changing rental market. Rent prices shifted, documentation expectations grew, and the pressure on newcomers intensified.
In response, Find My Home evolved too.
While our core work remains guiding renters through their applications, we expanded our support for those who need more than just paperwork guidance. Upon request, many newcomers now receive additional personalised help, from settling into their new home to understanding the basics of utilities and early-stage relocation tasks.
What stood out most this year wasn’t just the number of people we supported; it was the emotional journeys behind each story.
The stress.
The relief.
The uncertainty.
The hope.
And through it all, our role became clearer: to offer structure, clarity, and reassurance when everything else feels unstable.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we welcome a new year, my vision for Find My Home is rooted in the same purpose that began this journey, but with even deeper intention. I want us to be able to support more newcomers building a life in Australia. I want to reach more students, workers, and families who simply need guidance and someone to walk the journey with them.
I want to grow a community where newcomers feel welcomed. Find My Home should be beyond just helping people to secure homes. I hope to create a space where our renters can support each other, share experiences, and feel less alone during the transition.
I want to create a sense of belonging, not just housing.
A house is structured, but a home is emotional. My dream is for newcomers to feel safe, connected, and confident as they settle into Australia.
Find My Home started with my personal struggle, but today it represents something much greater, a commitment to ensure every newcomer feels seen, supported, and understood. As we move into 2026, I hope our work continues to bring clarity, confidence, and comfort to those beginning a new chapter far from home. Here’s to new beginnings, stronger communities, and the many newcomers we look forward to supporting in the year ahead.
